Found a friend who didn't leave CC to go round to my house and take pictures. As of yesterday, the house was fine but still without power. We are all sick of hotel life and fast food which is all that is available in this wee town, aside from Mexican (I think 6 asst. Mexican restaurants of varying sizes. My stomach says not on your life.)

We may go back up tomorrow regardless. Things are starting to open up and I really want to see what is up with things.

For those of you who have been following the news about Harvey and have been wondering how I am: Thanks! My mom, dad, myself and my entire fur tribe evacuated to an area about 3 hours south of Corpus Christi and have been hot and dry for the entirety of the storm. I am grateful beyond measure that we did not go north!

Further, it appears that the area of CC where I live may have been spared a good brunt of the storm. Right now just trying to get a handle on the status of electricity and water before returning home, possibly tomorrow, but we are in wait and see mode.

Hugs to you all!

I have a twitter account in the name of TheNatureSchool and the sole purpose of said account is to promote the Environmental Ed part of my world. In spite of all the hype among people who blog for an income to have a facebook page I will not have one because their policies suck. I have long given up posting personal posts here mostly because I am too tired at the end of the day to type that much intelligent verbiage. What intelligence I might possess has been sucked out of me by my high school students by the time I get to log onto LJ. It is as much as I can do to continue to make posts on TheNatureSchool.net so I can, if nothing else, avoid breaking the chain.

The upshot is that, I will not tweet any post or comment you make on your journal because it, most likely, will have nothing to do with Environmental Ed. and even if it does, that isn't my property to tweet.

I won't get as close to FaceBook as I would get with an angry Grizzly sow defending her cubs.

I have already made some post about my NatureSchool site on twtter so it isn't necessary for you to tweet whatever random comments my friends might possibly make here. Go to Twitter, follow TheNatureSchool there and you can happily retweet any post I make.

This journal does not need to be tweeted or facebooked. Not that I have any people who folllow me here that would do such a thing.

Just so you know.

Free Rice. A vocabulary game that gives on both sides. You get a better vocabulary, someone else gets some rice to eat. Adjusts to your vocabulary level and was both fun and challenging. Highest level is 50, I was running at about 42 without cheating and as high as 45 if I made use of the dictionary. Fun diversion.

Read a little on the site, looks like a decent thing. Sister site to poverty.com, about which I know nothing.

So a secret that no-one knows about me up to now is that I would be a dancer if I could have studied it young and I love the beauty of great choreography. I found this on [livejournal.com profile] grayden's Lj whilst exploring it via [livejournal.com profile] geeketiquette.

The wonders of LJ.

I love this movie. As the Dala says, I feel that I have my story back. cut for spoilers )

I love this movie. It is coming close to being on a par with the first. It isn't there yet, and one of the reasons is that it still relies a little too much on the first for its wit. There were so many clever lines in the first movie and because they were original to it, they were enchanting. However, with a second viewing of this movie, the wit that is orginal to it is starting to assert itself. It is a wild ride from start to finish.yes, for spoilers, enter if you want )

"Come along Jamie," the Admiral barked. "Really you must learn to keep up."

"Yes Sir," James replied, quickening his short, little, eight year old's pace to keep up with his father's long, rapid strides.

James jogged along behind, struggling to keep up with the man who was more "The Admiral" than father in his mind. Taking in deep draughts of the strong salty, fishy, tarry, smells of the docks all the more intense for the summer heat, his green eyes flicked right and left determined not to miss anything: the bustle and color of all the people working on them; the air so full of the noise of sailors cursing, the slap and creak of line, the water lapping at the ships, piers and shore, that it was as if the sound was a substance. James just loved the docks.
